We first want to thank the Microsoft Flight Simulator community for your support, patience and feedback since the release of the H225 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
by Steve Daniels (HPG) December 19, 2025
Hype Performance Group and Microsoft have agreed that Microsoft will transition future development efforts for the H225 to a new team. HPG delivered a final H225 build to Microsoft containing over 20 bug fixes and enhancements, and the new development team contributed additional fixes and improvements on top of those completed by HPG. These combined efforts were included in the H225 update released alongside Sim Update 4.
It was always our intention to deliver the H225 at a quality level that rivaled our previous aircraft, built with the same dedication, attention to detail and spirit of community collaboration that our supporters have come to expect from HPG. While we believe we exceeded expectations in terms of art and systems design, we fully understand that there were other areas where we fell short, and for that we sincerely apologize to the community.
This transition is intended to help take the H225 to the next level more quickly than HPG could accomplish on our own, and we look forward to seeing the future enhancements made by the new development team.
With this H225 transition, our social media profiles and Discord server will no longer be the best platforms for feedback and support inquiries related to the H225. Please use the dedicated H225 thread on the official Microsoft Flight Simulator forum.
In addition to this update regarding the H225, we want to share more context on the current and future state of HPG.
We understand that the lack of detailed communication from our team this year has been a concern, and we hope that the additional transparency provided here helps explain why this has been the case.
Unfortunately, our previous lead developer, Dave Amenta, has been inconsistent in communication with our team, has not provided promised updates and remains in ownership of critical code and components, including the much loved AFCS. This has directly impacted our ability to release updates for the H145 and H160.
During the months of silence, our intention was to protect the privacy of a colleague we considered a friend and to allow space for a resolution that would not further delay updates and releases for the community. Our team genuinely believed Dave would return after what he described, and we understood to be, a well deserved break following years of extraordinary effort and nearly daily product updates.
Dave committed to producing an H225 update beginning immediately after its release and continuing throughout this year. That same commitment was relayed to us through a third party as recently as October of this year. However, Dave has not returned to active development and has not delivered the previously promised updates.
Although we chose not to make public statements when Dave initially stated he was taking a break, our team immediately took internal steps to continue development on our released aircraft as well as several new unannounced projects already underway.
Beginning in March of this year, we welcomed two new developers who have since become key members of our team. These developers were solely responsible for the H225 update delivered to Microsoft and are actively developing new aircraft that we are excited to share with the community.
If an agreement is reached with Dave regarding ownership of his code for the H145 and H160, these same developers are ready to continue active development on those projects as well. We have overcome major milestones to release the H160 Action Pack, and hope to have more news there soon to provide.
With a refreshed team and renewed energy, we are confident that the next phase of HPG will deliver aircraft that once again set the bar for immersion, quality and innovation within Microsoft Flight Simulator. Our goal is not only to regain your trust but to remind the community why HPG became synonymous with passion and collaboration.
We have also made significant internal improvements to strengthen our structure, protect future development and ensure that situations like this cannot occur again.
We deeply appreciate your patience, understanding and continued support. We remain committed to keeping HPG strong and to delivering world class aircraft that reflect the very best of what our team and community can achieve together.
